There are a number of tools you need to keep your center pivot irrigation system operating properly. Sometimes, the most valuable tools are not the ones in your toolbox. Software solutions, like Valley BaseStation3 can be just as valuable of a tool as your favorite pair of pliers.
As many of you know, Valley® Irrigation is a global company. Farmers from all around the world utilize Valley center pivot technology, like AgSense® and BaseStation3™ irrigation monitoring, to increase their yields and water efficiency. Like local growers, international farmers face the same yearly challenges of running a farming operation. This includes proper pivot maintenance during the winter season.
Brian Petersen, along with his son, brother and nephew (Bennett, Steve and Mark, respectively), grows corn, soybeans and specialty crops like seed corn and annual rye near Minden, Neb. As Petersen puts it, they have a very “mixed bag” when it comes to pivots and control panels, and that can make farming their rough, sandy soil even more challenging, especially when it’s spread over 30 miles.
Everyone’s talking about it. While some people are living it, others are just dabbling. The Cornhusker chapter of the National Agri-Marketing Association (NAMA) held their monthly meeting at Valley® Irrigation last week to discuss a hot topic via irrigation panel: precision ag. The panel focused on how some growers are taking precision ag to the next level, as well as how ag companies are helping all growers use precision ag to make their operations more efficient.
Throughout the month of January, Growing the Conversation has introduced you to three of the four new ICON smart panels from Valley – the ICON10, ICON1, and ICON5. This week, we are thrilled to introduce you to the ICON panel that gives growers like you the key to complete control over your entire pivot irrigation operation – the ICONX.
