Correct part numbers, accurate failures, etc. all lead to accurate data. Failure trends are analyzed and ultimately prompt thorough product improvement projects.
2. Take pictures of the failure.
Although not always requested, photos showing the failure are very valuable to the warranty team. We use photos to review with manufacturing, engineering and suppliers.
3. Save the failed part.
We request the failed part to be saved for 30 days or until the claim is processed. If we are noticing similar failures, we may request the part back for further analysis. These parts are extremely valuable in the product improvement projects.
4. Include comments.
The more information we have from the beginning, the less follow-up is required to ensure accuracy.
