The South African Irrigation Institute (SABI) was founded October 23, 1976. It is a non-profit South African irrigation organization with more than 450 members that include engineers, designers, crop experts, soil scientists, economists and irrigation farmers.
SABI is dedicated to the promotion of improved designs, equipment, methods and management for the efficient use of irrigation water and optimization of all other associated resources. The institute provides norms for irrigation machines to assist designers in making sensible decisions during the design process. These norms enable irrigators to evaluate their machines and to manage them properly.
SABI hosts a congress every second year at various locations across South Africa to bring as many irrigation experts, farmers and irrigation companies together as possible. This year’s congress took place from the August 3-6 at the Protea Ranch Hotel, Polokwane in the Limpopo Province.
The exhibits form an integral part of each SABI Congress. Our Valley® Irrigation sales team participated as a competitor in this year’s exhibition. There were 23 contenders and the competition was stiff. However, this did not stop our Valley team from designing a creative and attention grabbing booth by playing with space and marketing materials. In the end, Valley was crowned as the overall winner and walked away with the trophy for best SABI exhibitor 2015.
Delegates can look forward to another exciting congress during 2017, which will be hosted in the beautiful Western Cape Province. There is no doubt that Valley South Africa will be returning to the congress in order to defend our title as best SABI exhibitor.
